Whether crime fiction, novels, books for young people, thrillers or fantasy - anyone looking for new reading material will find what they are looking for in Bremen's libraries and can borrow exactly what they are interested in. Students will also find a variety of learning materials and academic articles on all aspects of research in Bremen's libraries.
Bremen City Library has nine different locations in Bremen and the surrounding area. These include a mobile bus library and eight fixed locations spread throughout the city.

Reading enthusiasts can also find what they are looking for in Vegesack! With its 40,000 media, it is the largest branch of the city library. In addition to a youth area, the branch also has a picture book room where picture books are projected onto the wall.

The Osterholz District and City Library is located in the former district savings bank building and offers a wide range of books, films, DVDs and games especially for teenagers and children.

Fancy a book while you shop? The Huchting library is located in the Roland Center and offers a large collection of media on around 1000 square metres.

The library in Lesum offers a total of 23,500 media items. This includes books, films, audio books and console games and radio play figures, the so-called Tonies. Occasionally, reading events are organised for children.

The Black Children's Library in the Bremen Viertel district specialises in diversity-conscious children's and youth literature that focuses on Black children and young people as the heroes of the stories. Under the motto "Together we read", it offers a repertoire of books that centre on the realities of life and everyday worlds of people of colour and thus aims to create more positive visibility and representation of people of colour. There is also a bookshelf for adults - all are welcome in the Black Children's Library.

The KiBi children's library in the Viertel district is the perfect place for children interested in reading. The library offers a total of over 11,000 items. In addition to comics, picture books, non-fiction books, novels and short stories, the library also has many CDs with stories, thrillers and music as well as DVDs.

Although the children's library in Drebberstraße is a school library in the Wilhelm-Olbers-Oberschule in the Hemelingen district, it is open to all children. It has an extensive and well-stocked range of children's and young adult literature, interesting non-fiction books as well as current novels for adults. CDs, DVDs and audio books can also be borrowed here.

On Julius-Brecht-Allee, the secondary school has a modern school library where pupils can borrow current children's and youth literature. The library's collection was made possible by donations.

The Technology and Social Services Branch library is located on the Neustadtswall campus and offers a comprehensive range of specialised literature on topics from the faculties of "Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environment", "Social Sciences", "Electrical Engineering" and "Nature and Technology".

All students at the university and university locations in Bremen receive a free library card. This means that you can borrow books and other media from all nine locations of the Bremen City Library without paying any fees. On presentation of your current student ID card (or semester ticket) and identity card, the "BibCard" is issued at all locations and can be used immediately. All holdings can be found in the online catalogue of the SuUB Bremen.
