German Unity Day 2026

All of Germany will celebrate its unity in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen in 2026, and you are cordially invited to join in the festivities! Under the motto MANY STRENGTHS – ONE COUNTRY, Bremen's city center will be transformed into a large stage for culture, exchange, and encounters for three days.

Since 1990, the role of host for German Unity Day has rotated among the federal states each year, and this year it is Bremen's turn to show off its Hanseatic hospitality.

From October 2nd to 4th, 2026, you can expect moments big and small, political insights, creative impulses, and culinary discoveries. Residents of Bremen and Bremerhaven, as well as guests from all over Germany, will come together to celebrate a festival of democracy and cohesion – lively, open, and Hanseatic.

What you can expect:

Citizens' festival between Wall and Weser: Music, culinary delights, interactive activities, and exciting presentations from all 16 federal states.
Constitutional bodies as guests: Learn first-hand how politics works and talk to representatives from the federal and state governments.
Bremen Mile: From fish sandwiches to rocket technology – discover what makes Bremen strong, innovative, and unique.
Children's and family area: Plenty of space to play, run around, and get creative: a separate area especially for families.
Food mile: What would a festival be without good food? Come by and try food from Bremen, Germany, and around the world.
