The Bremen Space Year starts with the opening of the exhibition "Space Girls Space Women" in the Universum® Science Center Bremen on 11th January 2018. Be with us until the end and get a taste of the congress life of the IAC (International Astronautical Congress) at the Public Day on 5th October 2018!

In 2018, Bremen will be the host city of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC): The largest and most important astronautics congress worldwide will take place 1-5 October in Bremen with the theme #InvolvingEveryone. Around 4,000 participants from over 60 countries will be coming to Bremen for a second time – Bremen was also host city in 2003. Bremen is the most important space city in Germany and one of the largest and most significant space centers Europe wide. The host of IAC is the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of Bremen.

Numerous actors of the space sector, as well as the Bremen Space Year STERNSTUNDEN 2018, are taking the opportunity that IAC presents to organize events. The entire annual program, listing all activities and events, will be available at the start of the Bremen Space Year at: (German-speaking) and (English-speaking)


Experiencing space exploration


Visitors can look forward to more than 100 events – including rare and in part, exclusive, glimpses behind the scenes of aerospace companies and institutions, exciting events in Bremen’s cultural and creative scene, exhibitions, competitions and collaborative projects, children and youth events and of course, dialog sessions between space experts and the public. At IAC itself, you can soak up the congress atmosphere. And we can reveal this much: There’ll be a pupils’ congress, a Public Day and numerous open lectures are being planned.
